Travel channel names South Padre Island as one of the Best Beaches for 2006

South Padre Island is “perfect for vacationing families and honeymooners,” according to an article on the Travel Channel Web site that names the Island as one of America’s Best Beaches for 2006.

The article states that SPI “remains pleasant when the rest of the state is at its coldest. This beach is for the value-conscious traveler … there are scores of moderately priced and budget accommodations, including well-known chains and one-of-a-kind motels with more charm than class.”

The Island’s restaurants, bars, shops, movie theater and water sports were also noted.

The Travel Channel also recognized the Island in 2000 and 2001 as one of America’s Best Beaches.
